As technology has disrupted nearly every industry, many women feel forced to pivot to stay relevant, while others choose to pivot to stay engaged. Still, other women may be struggling to get back into the workforce after taking time off to raise kids — but unsure of what to do next. Words like "hustle" and "grit" have become trendy. And we are told we need to think strategically, cultivate our own brands and sell ourselves. But how do we pivot or radically relaunch our careers?

    REGISTER NOW

    • Grow confidence

Women leaders handling conflict is too often a “hot button” when we look at subtle, and sometimes not so subtle, gender bias. Words that get attached to women addressing conflict include: aggressive, emotional, too nice, cat-fight, pushover, etc. By using the tools of assertive thinking and behavior, collaboration, and a healthy conflict mindset, effective leading does not have to be seen through the lenses of male or female – it just needs to be viewed as effective.

    Key takeaways:

    • Identifying and addressing gender based split views of assertive behavior
    • Knowing what a healthy conflict mindset brings to team and organizational success
    • Considering collaborative competition as a new approach to achieving healthy conflict
    • Transitioning away from conflict avoidance and/or accommodation to assertive collaborative actions

    Overview

A massive shift is taking place in the business world.

In most companies, up to eighty percent of employees are working in teams. And yet, most teams are nowhere near as effective as they could be. They’re often divided by tensions, if not outright dissension, and dysfunctional teams drain employees’ energy, enthusiasm and creativity.

The underpinnings of effective contemporary leadership are hopefulness when facing challenges and the capacity to quickly come back from failures. Optimism and resilience are critical to collaboration, team effectiveness and a “fail fast and pivot” organizational mindset. Yet, sometimes the subtle gender stereotypes that can be applied to women leaders restrict or misinterpret the use of optimism as naïve, and resilience as merely being cheery. In this session we will identify how we can possess and use optimism and resilience in multiple settings with a coherent professional leader demeanor.

    Key takeaways:

    • Using optimism as both emotion and vision for the transformational leader
    • Achieving resilience and optimism in order to be a present and mindful leader
    • Resilient thinking and coping strategies
    • Applying optimism and resilience as gateway to team collaboration
    • Addressing remaining subtle gender bias and leading
